Lindsay commenced training in the traditional art of Shotokan Karate-Do in 1983 with Sensei Celso Bauer in Maitland in N.S.W. He obtained his Shodan (1st Dan) in 1990, his Nidan (2nd dan) in 1992 with Ken Sei Kan under chief instructor Mark Passmore

Two years later he opened a dojo in Forster NSW, where he operated for approximately 8 years. On returning to the Hunter Valley looking for a change he began training with Shigan Taekwondo, obtaining his 1st dan in 2007 under the expert tutelage of Master Darren Owens.

He opened his own training centre in Rutherford in 2008.

Sensei Lindsay achieved his 2nd dan in Taekwondo in 2011. He also decided to return to teaching Traditional Shotokan Karate in late 2011 when he established Guy’s Karate School.

Sensei Lindsay was awarded his 6th dan in Shotokan Karate in late 2019 being promoted to Shihan by Hanshi Bill Young of Kaigan Kan Karate-Do

He has trained many students for Local, National and International Championships

Lindsay, has always been community-minded and has volunteered his time as a surf lifesaver since the age of 15. For his service he has been awarded a life membership form Newcastle SLSC. He also held the position of President of the Maitland saints Australian Football Club from 2014-2019.
