AMAHOF Award Categories & Award Citation

Nominations can originate from family, friends, instructors, peers, and students who believe the person being nominated is worthy of such an honour; all nominations are judged on their own merit and performance using stringent decision criteria. AMAHOF follows the principles of non-discrimination, and equal opportunity; thus favouritism, sex, politics, origin, race, creed, and style do not have any bearing on the final selection of an honouree.

For induction, new nominees should be eligible for and their inclusion in AMAHOF will be considered using criteria explained in Category Three. AMAHOF’s decision will be influenced by the information provided upon the timely submission of the Official Nomination Pack.

With normally a maximum of 15 people inducted in any calendar year, your nominee, if successful, will become part of a select group of outstanding individuals.

AMAHOF reserves the right to extend recognitions to inducted members beyond that which is outlined below.

AMAHOF INDUCTEE CATEGORIES

Category One: Martial Arts Legend (Committee Invitation-Only)

Award Citation: A Martial Artist who has dedicated over 50 years of continuous service to martial arts development, has previously received Life-Time Achievement, and supported AMAHOF for over 10 years. This person continues to demonstrate the highest levels of experience, skill, knowledge, instructional ability, administration, professionalism, and leadership, and continues to support the development of martial arts, and the mentoring and empowerment of others.

Category Two: Life-Time Achievement (Committee Invitation-Only)

Award Citation: A Martial Artist who has dedicated over 35 years of continuous service to martial arts development, and has previously been inducted into AMAHOF. This person continues to demonstrate the highest levels of experience, skill, knowledge, instructional ability, administration, professionalism, and leadership; who is over the age of 50 years and who continues to support the development of martial arts, and the mentoring and empowerment of others.

Category Three: Continual Excellence and Service to the Australasian Martial Arts Community

Nominate a martial artist for this award

Award Citation: A Martial Artist with over 15 years of continuous service, significantly contributing to martial arts development, achieving a minimum of 3rd Dan or equivalent and higher in their chosen martial art. This person continues to demonstrate a consistently high-level of performance as a Martial Artist and as an instructor displaying experience, skill, knowledge, instructional ability, administration, and leadership; who is over the age of 30 years and who promotes the development of martial arts and inspires such qualities within others.

A tribute to those remarkable individuals who have provided unwavering support to an AMAHOF member’s Martial Arts journey for 15 years or more.

SPECIAL AWARDS

AMAHOF may from time to time make special awards in the following categories:

  • Legend Award acknowledges 50 years service to Martial Arts, and significant support to AMAHOF. This award is determined by AMAHOF Executives; there is no formal application process.
  • President’s Discretionary Award for Posthumous recognition of services to Martial Arts by persons outside AMAHOF.
  • Support for Martial Arts – Health & Healing is for a person providing over 10 years of a health & healing service supporting martial artists and other sporting bodies relieving symptoms of injury or illness or improving their performance or expedites their return to full practice.
  • Support for the Development of Martial Arts Award is for Martial Artist or an individual with over 10 years supporting the development of martial arts, showing exceptional voluntary service, and commitment to the martial arts that has enabled its development and the empowerment of others.
