Shihan Lionel began training in taekwondo in 1971 and has kept that passion alive for 50 years. He has held an executive position on the Tasmania Martial Arts Council for over 35 years and is well respected in his community for his extraordinary dedication to the betterment of others. Shihan Lionel continues to travel extensively around Tasmania promoting martial arts and the Tasmanian Martial Arts Council and assists in organising, promoting and participating in 2-3 seminars each year, including running a seminar once a year.
He has been involved in running free women’s self-defence courses throughout the North and North West coast, has produced several highly regarded kickboxing champions and is a member of the National Jujitsu Association. He is an extremely skilled and competent martial artist who has established his own organisation and dedicates his life to bringing other martial artists together to share their knowledge and experience.
Since 1984 each year have ran self-defence classes for school students of all ages throughout the North West and West Coast region of Tasmania for the Education Department.
In his spare time, he enjoys swimming, outrigger canoeing and stand-up paddle boarding.
