Charles Mareikura has trained in Karate for 30 years. Actively practising Tien Sien Pai since 1971. At present Whanake Rangataua 1977-2000, SyukuKan Karate Japan 1975, Kyokushinkai Japan 1975, Kysyukan Japan 1975-1977, Shotokan Japan 1986. He has been a teacher for 28 years. His past teachers have been John Tahu Parae, Fredrick Hamilton U.S.A. 6th Dan, Higateru Shindo, Judo, Go Dan -Yoshihari Suzuku, Karate, 8th Dan, – Tomasaburo Okano, Karate, 8th Dan, and Toyotaro Miyazuki U.S.A. 8th Dan. He has participated in the Toyotaro Miyazuki Seminar in Porirua, – Fredrick Hamilton Seminar U.S.A. – Professor Godin, Karate, Hawaii, and Tomasaburo Okano, Japan. Has demonstrated in New Zealand and the U.S.A. Has travelled overseas to the U.S.A. Hong Kong, Czechosovakia, Samoa, Hawaii, Australia, Singapore and Japan among other countries.
He is currently graded Karate 5th Dan and Judo 1st Dan.

1986 10th Annual Regionals Wellington Winner Open Kata Captained North Island Multi Style Winning team against South Island. Member winning team versus Auckland 1986 Visited with Karate Tour team to World Karate Champs 1988 New York – fought against Toyotaro Miyazaki Invitational side. Competed in World Invitational Team Competition in Prague, Czechoslovakia. Came 4th. Still teaching martial arts.
In the year 2000 Charles Mareikura was inducted into the New Zealand Martial Arts Hall of Fame and at this year’s AMAHOF ceremony he was inducted into the Australasian and World Karate Union Halls of Fame
