Scott Harvey’s lifelong passion for martial arts and fitness was ignited by his admiration for action films and the martial arts genre.
In 1991, at the tender age of nine, Scott embarked on his martial arts journey, training in taekwondo under the tutelage of his father. This formative period lasted until 1994, a pivotal year when he was introduced to hapkido by Grandmaster Fari Salievski.
Scott commenced his hapkido training in 1995, guided by Grandmaster Fari, at the age of twelve.
A significant milestone was reached in June 1999 when Scott, at seventeen, tested for his first dan black belt alongside his father, Stephen. That same year marked the beginning of their joint venture in teaching at the local Police & Community Youth Clubs (PCYC).
The year 2005 saw Scott and his father achieve their second dan, a time which also coincided with the expansion of their teaching endeavors to multiple locations.
In 2008, they both earned their third dan, and it was during this year that they established their own martial arts gym in a permanent location.
Tragedy struck in 2012 with the sudden passing of Scott’s father, leaving him as the sole proprietor of their martial arts establishment.
Undeterred, Scott acquired a new location in 2013 and embarked on rebuilding from scratch. His efforts paid off, as this venue now boasts more members than ever before.
In 2024, Scott achieved his fourth dan, a testament to his dedication and skill.
Throughout his teaching career, Scott has been a beacon of philanthropy, raising funds for ‘Shave for a Cure’—the world’s greatest shave event—in support of one of his students battling leukemia. Additionally, he generously donates his time to instruct at vacation care groups.
Scott aspires to continue nurturing confidence and aiding individuals in attaining success, extending beyond the realm of martial arts to encompass all facets of their lives.
