Andrew began Judo at the Sebastopol Judo Club in 1982; on his parent’s suggestion since he could be “a difficult child”. He was diagnosed with attention deficit disorder (ADHD) but his parents chose alternatives to medication, including diet, along with Judo, to focus his energy & attention. Judo provided purpose and helped him to study, work full time as a mechanical engineer & gain a Post Graduate degree in Management. He has competed in over 100 competitions, over 300 bouts, in 73kg & 81kg weight divisions and trained in many countries. He has directed coaching at JVI Kata seminars & Judging at Kata competitions and in 2015 was elected Member, JVI Board of Directors & in 2016 as the Committee Secretary. He is currently the Senior Coach; Waverley Judo Club.
