The Aikido Shudokan has a very high standing in the Martial Arts community both locally and overseas. We have a constant flow of visitors from around the world and Joe Thambu has taught, trained and performed in demonstrations around Australia, Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, United Kingdom, Poland, Czechoslovakia, Holland, United States of America and Canada.

Joe Thambu has also been involved in numerous Aikido teaching programs within the education system. He has conducted classes at Melbourne’s Xavier College, Melbourne’s Grammar school, St Kevin’s College, Simond’s College and Monash University Caulfield Campus. In addition to this, Joe Thambu regularly conducts corporate training seminars and public speaking engagements for Corporate and local government sectors.

Joe Thambu was born on 24th March 1961 in Malaysia.His occupation is a full time Aikido Instructor holding 7th Dan Yoshinkan Aikido

November 1972
Started Aikido training under Thamby Sensei, Malaysia
April 1978
Attained Shodan from Thamby Rajah Sensei, Shudokan Institute of Aikido, Seremban Malaysia

Immigrated to Melbourne, Australia
Aug-80
Established the first Yoshinkan Aikido school in Australia
January 1982
Attained 2nd Dan Thamby Rajah Sensei, Shudokan Institute of Aikido Seremban Malaysia
February-May 1983
Lived and trained at the principal Yoshinkan Aikido school in Tokyo, Japan
March 1984
Opened permanent school in Thornbury (now principal school for Yoshinkan Aikido in Australia)
